The San Diego chapter of Pacifica Institute held it’s 2014 fundraiser last Saturday night with the attendance of 130 guests.
The West America Turkic Council’s President, Ozgur Yildiz, presented an opening speech while traditional Turkish food was served with the accompaniment of live Turkish music. Yildiz spoke of the mission and projects of Pacifica, which is an institute promoting frienship, culture, and cooperation formed in 2003. He emphasized the importance of like-minded individuals’ support, both morally and financially, to the institute in order to ensure the continuation of Pacifica’s projects.
Following his talk, member of Pacifica Institute’s Advisory Board Lynn Neu expressed her satisfaction with the organization’s services and presented a 4 person dinner in her home for auction, which was sold for $500. Further into the night, various items such as wood burnings, ebru (paper marbling), paintings, spreads, handcrafted decorative linen, silk scarves, silver jewelry, towels and bed linen were offered for sale. Guests showed great interest in the handmade porcelain plates, coffee cups, paintings of Istanbul’s scenery, and soccer jerseys that were up for auction.
