On June 30th, 2015, Pacifica Institute organized an Inter-cuisine Iftar Meal to revive the uniting spirit of the month Ramadan. Many guests from various cultures were invited to share the peaceful atmosphere of breaking the fast. Guests waited others to break their fasts, presenting respect and compassion for one another.

The night started with a reception when the participants of the dinner came together to chat and get to know one another. Then everyone took their seats in the dining room, where the video about Ramadan- the month of sharing was presented. Right at the time of breaking the fast, call to prayer was announced with its meaning in the subtitles, followed by a prayer.

At the iftar, Deputy Chief of Protocol of LA County Loordes Saab, Chilean Consul General Jorge Tagle, Senior Cultural Attache of Taiwan Peter Huang, and Belgian singer Eva De Roovere were a few of the memorable guests that were present. Loordes Saab mentioned their nice conversation about foods that each culture shares. She added that food was just one of many parts that unite and bring people together. Consul General Jorge Tagle added that it was really important to emphasize the similarities shared at a controversial time like this.

Other than eating and chatting, guests also listened to wonderful folk music played by one of the Pacifica volunteers, Murat Bahar. Additionally, Eva De Roovere performed an amazing piece for everyone in the room, making everyone appreciate the night one more time.
