Amir Hussain is Professor of Theological Studies at Loyola Marymount University, the Jesuit university in Los Angeles. He teaches courses on Islam and world religions, and specializes in the study of contemporary Muslim societies in North America. Amir is the author or editor of five books, as well as over 50 scholarly articles and book chapters. He is currently finishing a book on how American Muslims have woven themselves into the fabric of American life, titled Islam and the Building of America. From 2011 to 2015, he was the editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Religion, the premier scholarly journal for the study of religion. In 2008, he was made a fellow of the Los Angeles Institute for the Humanities at USC.
