On Sunday, March 6, 2016, the Pacifica Institute, Orange County branch, in partnership with “Miss Understanding,” hosted the fourth 2 Faiths 1 Friendship Mixer event, which brought together about 150 Muslims and (Evangelical) Christians of all ages to learn from each other’s faith tradition.

2 faiths 1 friendship...

The event began with a welcoming speech by Pastor Abraham, who thanked Pacifica Institute for hosting the event and talked about how important it is for Muslims and (Evangelical) Christians to reach out to each other. After his inspirational speech, he invited the VP of the Pacifica Institute, Atilla Kahveci to say a few words about the event. Atilla thanked the organizers for bringing the two faith communities together at this time when dialogue is sorely needed.

Then, Michal and Sondos, co-founders of “Miss Understanding,” went up to the stage to share their friendship story and highlights from the past year since launching their website. They presented pictures and videos of past Mixers, trainings, dinners, and other fun Muslim-Christian collaborations to the audience.

2 faiths 1 friendship. After their presentation, the audience divided into three groups — kids, youth, and adults — and engaged in different ice breaker activities aimed at encouraging dialogue, understanding, and collaboration. Several attendees exchanged contact information to meet up again at a later time. We pray that the event sparked new friendships and solidified others!
