The series of events, with the title, “Countering Violent Extremism: Emerging Perspectives and Initiatives”, is aimed to bring together prominent participants from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds for a comprehensive discussion in the aftermath of 2015 UNGA where word leaders explored the issue.
The series of events aims to deepen understanding of violent extremism, scrutinize various forms and drivers of violent extremisms, and how these dovetail into regional and global terrorist campaigns. It will also explore how actors – both governmental and non-governmental from the local to the national, regional and international levels – can work together effectively to counter violent extremism. By engaging civil society representatives, experts, journalists, scholars and officials mainly from Europe, the US, the MENA region and Turkey. The series of events aim to produce useful insights for the ongoing efforts.
