The 5th Annual International Children’s Festival sponsored by Pacifica Institute gathered children and families from all over the world on Saturday, May 22nd in Golden Gate Park to unite everyone as one global community through fun, food and festive celebrations. The main focus of the event is to promote the wide diversity of people in the greater San Francisco area through the art of dance and performing arts. Sixteen different groups performed eighteen different ethnic dances, representing fourteen countries. All-in-all there were more than 225 performers who came together to represent their own culture at the International Children Festival. A festival for children wouldn’t be complete without a circus, balloons, face painting and origami, and a Turkish event wouldn’t be complete without food. Circus Bella performed 3 entertaining shows including clown groups acts, juggling, contortion acts and a slack rope act. And the food bazaar was complete with more than 20 different Turkish dishes and desserts to choose from. There seemed one phrase you could hear while most everyone was leaving the festival: “We can’t wait for the next year’s festival to come!
