Pacifica Institute has brought together local communities and local city officials on Thursday, August 1st at Sunnyvale branch to Ramadan Iftar dinner event.
The local interfaith attendees were Pastor Robert McKee with the members of St. Luke Lutheran Church Congregation, Pastor Paul Kim with the members of United Methodist Church Congregation, and Rev. Dr. Andrew Kille from Silicon Valley Interfaith Council.
The local city officials were Sunnyvale Mayor Tony Spitaleri, San Jose Councilmember Johnny Khamis, and San Jose Chief of Police Larry Esquivel.
The event started out with a short video about Pacifica Institute’s recent dialogue activities. Pastor McKee started his opening remarks by thanking Pacifica Institute for the event. He also gave few nice anecdotes from his inter-cultural trip to Turkey. His remarks were followed by Pastor Kim’s wonderful prayer for peace. Then, Dr. Kille talked about the importance of interfaith dialogue within our community and thanked the member of the institute for their contributions.
The director of Pacifica Institute Mr. Mahmut Altun would like to thank the guests for coming and all the efforts put to make this evening a success to the members of Pacifica Institute.
