As customary, Pacifica Institute is again creating many opportunities for Community leaders to connect with their constituents in many settings. To this end, Pacifica has been organizing Iftar dinners and have been inviting community leaders to join us to break bread together and have an Iftar dinner.
On June 27th, 2015, the Iftar dinner was honored by Congressman Honda. Pacifica Institute community thanks Congressman Honda for joining us for a night of understanding, dialogue and compassion.
Congressman Honda gave a short speech congratulating the Ramadan of the Pacifica Community and stating that he is a novice student learning about Islam. He emphasized that the fasting helps appreciate all the great things we most of the time take for granted.
As it was his 74th birthday, Pacifica community surprised him with ah birthday cake having 17 candles, signifying both his district as well as his endless energy that one would find only in a 17-year old teenager:)
