On Saturday, May 20, 2017, Members of Pacifica Institute and Silicon Valley United Nations Association (SVUNA) collaborate together to join the Annual National River Clean Up Day.

Every year, more and more volunteers join to clean up the rivers in our community for cleaner water and a more beautiful look to our community. This year, Pacifica Institute sent out its youth group to show that the mission of having a better community extends towards all ages.

It was a hot day in the sun, but it was evident that the youth could see the impact of their hard work and dedication to the community. Over 14 of Pacifica Institute’s  youths went to Saratoga Creek at Santa Clara (site 40), which was more than the minimum volunteers needed for this site.

At the end of the day, the volunteers were reminded how much their service means not only to the San Jose community but community around the nation. The youth also received certificates for their service.
