On the evening of May 23rd, the Pacifica Institute and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints shared an Iftar meal to celebrate the Holy month of Ramadan. The dinner was held at the Latter Day Saints Chapel on Grant Road in Mountain View. Members of the two faiths had met previously in support of a service project and this event continued to build on those relationships. Before sharing the meal, a brief overview of the LDS faith was provided followed by a video explaining Ramadan and the role of fasting in the Muslim faith.  The food was delicious as it always is with the Pacifica Institute, and that combined with new friendships being formed among the over 130 attendees made it a very worthwhile evening for all.  Not only did both communities came away with a better understanding of their new friends faith, but it became clear to all that the two faiths have similar values which provides a foundation to continue serving together and to work jointly on social issues important to both faiths.
