Pacifica Institute invited Los Altos United Methodist Church on May 17th, 2018 to celebrate the Holy month of Ramadan. The guests and members of Pacifica Institute learned about the importance of Ramadan, what Iftar is and what Ramadan means to a Muslim.  The event was one with the idea of peace and serenity between both communities. There had been at least 160 participants from the congregation. The pastor of the congregation, Kathi McShane, read a wonderful poem that definitely brought everyone into the spirit of friendship, peace and love throughout the event. The food was delicious blend of Mediterranean Cuisine and after dinner came dessert, tea and getting know each other better. The dialogues formed during the event were noted to be both intellectual and spiritual. The guest were then given a treat bag full of Turkish delight in a way of showing appreciation for the amount of courage, energy and time it might have taken for the guests t arrive, expand their horizons and enjoy a meal with the community.   This event is one of many that Pacifica offers in order to bridge connections among different cultures, races and religions.
