Lecture Series with Author Bradley Steffens

Tracking the lions grandson is more than what’s simply read. Tracking the lions grandson a biographical detective story is based on the life of Ibn al-Haytham. Based on the studies and research of Bradley Steffens, Ibn al- Haytham was the first scientist. After concluding many research documents on the study, cause and the proper methods for scientific research Steffens finds and proves that Ibn al-Haytham was the first scientist to the true meaning.

There are many scientists that were thought to be the first or were called the first, however after looking at the proper scientific method which includes testing and hypotheses it is found that many of the so called first scientist were actually not. Scientists such as Aristotle were missing steps of the actual method such as testing. Instead of testing Aristotle relied on reason, which takes the scientific out of the method.

Ibn al-Haythem also known as the father of optics, having many influential books on the eye, vision, and essentially its modern form. Ibn al-Haytham’s achievements include many advances in physics and mathematics. He gave the first clear description and correct analysis of the camera. He enunciated Fermat’s principle of least time and the concept of inertia and developed the concept of momentum.

The lecture was followed by Q&A session and light refreshments were served as attendees enjoyed conversations.
