{"id":2836,"date":"2010-10-24T00:00:37","date_gmt":"2010-10-24T08:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pacificasv.org\/?p=489"},"modified":"2016-09-12T20:20:38","modified_gmt":"2016-09-13T03:20:38","slug":"fourth-annual-dialog-and-friendship-dinner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pacificainstitute.org\/bay-area\/2010\/10\/24\/fourth-annual-dialog-and-friendship-dinner\/","title":{"rendered":"Fourth Annual Dialog and Friendship Dinner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pacificasv.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_0206.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/pacificasv.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_0206.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-495\" src=\"http:\/\/pacificasv.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_0206-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>On October 24th, 2010 approximately 150 influential people from the bay area came together in the Hall of Cities at the Marriot Hotel in Santa Clara for the 4th Annual Dialog and Friendship Dinner hosted by the Pacifica Institute.\u00a0 Political figures, academia from local colleges and universities and religious leaders from various faiths came together to discuss the importance of intercultural, interfaith dialog.\u00a0 The night started with a welcome message from the president of the Pacifica Institute, followed by dinner and a very inspirational speech given by Dr. Jannah Scott, the Deputy Director from the Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives of the Department of Homeland Security.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Jannah Scott\u2019s reflections centered on how President Obama\u2019s priorities for interfaith dialog and cooperation are manifested through strategic initiatives in federal government, with an emphasis on Homeland Security, and how these efforts align with the Pacifica Institute\u2019s priorities of service or \u201chizmet.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Dr. Scott outlined President Obama\u2019s three priorities to strengthen the nation as:\u00a0 1) interfaith dialogue, 2) service and 3) engaging our youth.
