A San Francisco Synagogue, Congregation B\u2019nai Emunah, hosted its first \u2013 ever Ramadan interfaith iftar dinner to reach out all faiths. Iftar dinner was sponsored by multi organizations including Congregation B\u2019nai Emunah , Pacifica Institute, BAYCC, Jewish Community Relations Council, San Francisco Interfaith Council, Congregation Ner Tamid, OrShalom Jewish Community and Congregation Beth Israel Judea and San Francisco Board of Supervisors.<\/p>\n
The program started with a Song of Peace performed by Rabbi Katie Mizrahi. Afterwards words of wisdom were shared by distinguished guest speakers, Michael Pappas and Rita Semel representing San Francisco Interfaith Council. After screening a short video about Ramadan, the attendants were asked to have short conversations at their tables to learn each other.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet us know each other through another\u201d said Dr Nazeer Ahmed who is a former NASA scientist.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was deeply touched to have an interfaith event in our neighborhood\u201d told Supervisor Gordon Mar from San Francisco Board of Supervisor for District 4.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have lots of commonalities but we should also cherish our differences, too\u201d said Dr Ejaz Naqvi who is a physician and author.<\/p>\n
Rabbi Pam Frydman, Congregation B\u2019nai Emunah, expressed her gratitude to host such a remarkable event at their synagogue.<\/p>\n
The iftar started with a call to prayer. Multi faith blessings are recited for peace by Father Arturo Albano, Rabbi Pam Frydman and Fatih Ates.<\/p>\n
