After the tragedy of 9/11, he became enchanted with the idea of global education and began to pursue a partnership with International Pacific College in New Zealand and other colleges around the globe. He is preparing aspiring teachers to be globally competent. Dr. Haas has been invited to share his vision of global education with educators around the world and throughout the United States and was recently chosen as 1 of 425 global educators world-wide to present his work with the GC.

Dr. Haas was recently recognized by the United States Congress for his work on global peace and understanding. This prestigious accolade is a testament to his dedication to education and the Global Consortium’s revolutionary program. At Cerritos College he created the Global Consortium to provide a pragmatic answer to these questions. The Global Consortium (GC) is a network of global partners that share a common goal of bridging cultural gaps in our world. The GC raises awareness of global issues to college students and aspiring teachers throughout the world, many of whom would not be able to have this opportunity if it were not for this program. The GC has the unique advantage of being broadcast live to over 2.5 million college students throughout California, web cast on the internet, broadcast on local cable television (3CMediaSolutions), and interactively shown live to our partner schools, educators, students, and institutions across the globe. The GC seeks to provide education and information about global issues, challenges, and cultures around the world to the young people – the people who will one day be asked to take part and solve global problems. Straddling the continents of Europe and Asia, Turkey is a bridge between West and East. So is the Global Consortium so he showcased the Global Consortium’s previous work in building bridges to the world and its future work in building bridges to Turkey.

The Global Consortium Presenter Haas has received his Ph.D. from the Claremont Graduate School in 1994.
