Pacifica Institute condemns the attacks of August 5th, 2012 on the Sikh community in an Oak Creek Wisconsin Gurudwara (Sikh temple). In the face of this thoughtless act of violence against innocent people we pray for the victims and their families.

According to news reports the shooting took place Sunday, August 5th, 2012 and left six people dead, another three in critical condition and still others injured. This kind of heinous attack is contrary to what any peace loving people and religion preaches. Above all, this is an act that is against the values of the United States of America which cherishes diversity and is proud of its multi-cultured heritage.

We, at Pacifica Institute, stand together with the Sikh community and urge others in our community to do the same in order to counter the influence of hate-mongers and to heal our society and make us all whole again in the face of this tragedy.
