Around 300 people gathered in the 16th Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving
Prayer Breakfast of San Francisco Interfaith Council on Tuesday,
November 26, in San Francisco. Despite the fact that it was very early
in the morning, politicians (including San Francisco mayor), law
enforcement officials, clergy of all faiths, non-profit leaders were all there honoring our
veterans, and Pacifica Institute was there too.
The keynote speaker was Joan M. Mooney (in the picture, with Pacifica
Institute Representatives), Assistant Secretary for Congressional and
Legislative Affairs at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
She spoke about how we can prevent downward spiral of some of our
veterans into a life of loneliness and sometimes into homelessness.
The other speakers mentioned other services available for the veterans
in difficulty, and called on the attendees to do their part on
honoring our veterans in the right ways, to help them out when needed.
