Pacifica Institute Hosts FBI for Iftar Dinner

Pacifica Institute is honored to have FBI- Los Angeles on the 2nd of September in its Westwood Branch. A slide presentation about the month of fasting and Ramadan was shared before dinner. The month of fasting continues for a month and according to solar calendar, each year the start of the month of fasting shifts back 11 days. People who are able to fast except the pregnant, children and the sick, do so from an hour and a half before sun rises until the sun goes down. Fasting not only involves abstaining from eating and drinking but also consists of behavioral, religious, social and spirtiual dimension where everyone is encouraged to share their meal, increase self control and give oneself to more reading of the book of the universe. Pacifica Institute thanked Salvador Hernandez and his colleagues for making the iftar dinner a special one for the Turkish American community by sharing the iftar meal. ADIC Salvador Hernandez made his closing remarks, wished Pacifica Institute the very best in its future endeavors and thanked the Pacifica Institue. In his remarks Mr Hernandez also talked about his two years on the job as the Assistant Director in Charge in Los Angeles.
