Homeland: A Song for Refugees was a thought-provoking documentary film that delved into the lives of refugees and their daily struggles with displacement, xenophobia, and the need for social cohesion. Starring music legends Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse, the film was based on Neill Solomon’s epic composition developed in partnership with the Turquoise Harmony Institute. The launch event at the Pacifica Institute was an incredible evening aimed at raising awareness about the challenges faced by refugees worldwide.
Featuring talented artists from diverse backgrounds, the event showcased the power of music to bring people together and inspire change. Through soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics, the artists reminded the audience of the importance of empathy and understanding. The enchanting tunes transported attendees to different cultures, connecting them with the universal language of music. Together, participants made a difference by supporting those who had been forced to leave their homes.
