On Sunday, June 28, 2026, Pacifica Institute volunteers conducted a Turkish cooking class at Harbor Christian Church, bringing community members together through food, culture, and friendship.
During the class, participants learned how to prepare two popular Turkish dishes: lentil balls, known as mercimek köftesi, and a traditional Turkish pastry, börek, filled with spinach and cheese. The hands-on experience gave everyone an opportunity to learn new recipes, cook together, and enjoy the dishes they prepared.
Twelve participants joined the class, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere filled with conversation, laughter, and cultural exchange. More than simply a cooking lesson, the gathering offered a meaningful opportunity to strengthen friendships and build connections among neighbors from different backgrounds.
Pacifica Institute extends its sincere appreciation to Harbor Christian Church, our volunteers, and everyone who participated in making this gathering such a wonderful experience.
