International Children’s Festival is organized as a flagship event by Pacifica Institute with the goal of bringing together children from different world cultures and communities in the Bay Area. More than 3000 people attend the festival that includes traditional dances, performances, arts and crafts, children’s activities and food. We are proud to say the International Children’s Festival has been celebrated for six years now.
Founded in 2003 by the residents of San Fernando Valley, CA, Pacifica Institute is a non-profit organization with a mission to establish a caring and educated society by emphasizing universal values such as love, truth, brotherhood, solidarity and sharing. Now P
acifica Institute has branches in twelve states of the western US, including California. The most recent branch was opened in San Francisco in 2015. For years, Pacifica Institute has been organizing multicultural and interfaith programs for different age groups to promote cross-cultural awareness and tolerance.
At the festival, different groups and ethnicities will perform their folk dances with authentic clothing and native songs. While enjoying traditional dances, visitors will have the opportunity to taste homemade authentic dishes and desserts from around the world. In addition to dance performances, children will enjoy magic shows, balloon twisters, face painting, pony rides and much more.
This year’s festival will be held on October 3rd, 2015 in Discovery Meadow Park (180 Woz Way, San Jose, CA 95110). Located next to the Children’s Discovery Museum, the park offers lush grassy area for all children to play.
We will again have a food court to serve international delicacies. More importantly, since we believe in giving back to the community, the food sale profits will be donated to reputable charities such as Home & Hope, and Embrace Relief.
