Dr. Amir Hussain: “Muslims and the Making of America”

In Conversation with the Rev. Dr. Gwynne Guibord

Saturday, January 14, 2017  3-5 PM

St. John’s Cathedral, 540 West Adams Blvd. Los Angeles 90007

“There has never been an America without Muslims”-so says Amir Hussain, one of the most important scholars and teachers of Islam in America. In his book Dr. Hussain reveals, among other surprises, the fact that Muslims have always played an essential role in the creation and cultivation of the United States.

The fear of American Muslims post-9/11 stems in part from the stereotype that all followers of Islam are violent extremists who want to destroy the American way of life.

Now more than ever, we need to be able to explore stereotypes in an atmosphere where new facts are revealed, questions welcomed, concerns voiced and honest dialogue encouraged.

Join us for what promises to be a fascinating conversation about Muslims in America. There is no charge for this event. Registration (required) at http://theguibordcenter.org/event/

Copies of Dr. Hussain’s book will be available for purchase and signing by the author.
