The Ramadan Iftar event, hosted at San Diego Central Library, brought together members of the law enforcement community and local leaders in San Diego for an evening of unity, reflection, and cultural appreciation. The event aimed to foster stronger relationships between law enforcement personnel and the diverse communities they serve while providing an opportunity to experience and understand the significance of Ramadan. The MC of the event introduced the speakers and engaged with the audience. Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney Cindy Cipriani from the Department of Justice was presented with an award by Mesut Inci- Board President of the Pacifica Institute, for her efforts in facilitating this event. In her speech, Cindy highlighted the sincerity with which the Pacifica Institute operates.
San Diego Police Department’s (SDPD) Community & Youth Services Captain, Albert Ambito, who has been in law enforcement for over 23 years, delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the importance of such gatherings and wishing everyone “Ramadan Mubarak.” He noted that San Diego is one of the few cities with a full-time department dedicated to diversity facilitation in law enforcement.
A special Ramadan video, followed by an Adhaan (Call to Prayer) video, was displayed on the screen, creating an atmosphere of harmony and unity. After the Iftar dinner, the MC invited Firdevs Dilekchi, spoke about the significance of Ramadan in the Muslim faith and shared her Ramadan memories and stories. Towards the end of the event, a special Sufi music performance filled the room with soulful melodies, creating an atmosphere of peace and devotion.
Special thanks to all attendees, organizers, and volunteers who contributed to making this event a success. A heartfelt appreciation to our law enforcement personnel for their service and dedication to the community. We look forward to continuing these efforts in fostering mutual respect and understanding between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
