This year, the City of Irvine hosted the 12th Annual Global Village Festival on September 29, 2013 at the Bill Barber Park. It was an entertaining event that joined together international communities in Irvine. The mission of the festival was to foster cultural understanding, while showcasing the wonderful businesses and organizations that support this mission and promote positive community growth. The festival featured international cuisine, a marketplace full of crafts, textiles, and gifts, along with educational and entertaining cultural presentations. The 2013 Irvine Global Village Festival also included a world religions area, a kids’ playground area, and much more.
Pacifica Institute attended the Global Village Festival with volunteers who exhibited water marbling (Ebru) and calligraphy art (Hat Sanati). Ayse Bahceci, who performed the Ebru demonstrated how to make water marbling art to the audience. Many people inquired about the special paints used for Ebru. Talented artist Melik Sayin wrote out the festival attendees’ names with the calligraphy art (Hat). More than a hundred people had their names written with calligraphy on the upcoming Pacifica Institute calendar. The Pacifica Institute stand also served some Turkish Delight to the audience.
