Online Prayer Vigil for Peace of Los Angeles Residents
Close to 50 people joined the vigil prayerfor peace, calm and empathy. Guests were invited to share their thoughts, prayer and music organized by Santa Monica area İnterfaith Counsel.
First Imam and Dr Recep Dogan was invited to share his prayer “Just as You commanded the fire to be cool and peaceful for Your servant Abraham. We ask You to make the fires in our land cool, calm, and filled with mercy for all who are affected. O God, protect the people, animals, houses and forests from destruction. Grant patience and aid to those affected, and bring us all relief soon.”
Rabbi Neil Comes says it is important to feel the grief of others. Pastor Jane from the Church in Ocean Park said this kind of gathering iş important to be in, among the community. She had the firm belief that we are better together
Santa Monica Area Interfairh Council President Kathleen Benjamin asked the participants to turn to ourselves. And as we grieve, allow ourselves to neutralize anxiety. Allow ourselves to be grounded and centered. We are the very presence of the eternal.
Daniel prayed that we might have friends whose homes have been destroyed and churches that disappeared which is to remind the ferocity of the fire. People are suffering and this happened to many people across Los Angeles and give us strength and refugee from You. Enlighten us in ways to support the victims.
Dr Alisa prayed for power of community which will hold us together. Louise shared that music is important for relief. Bonnie offered prayers for people who felt empathy for people who called from outside and concerned citizens. Jerry shared that the outpouring of love and help really affected him deeply. Julie shared that I have learned with this how to be in community and be resilient.
Sonya said “ O God, we are grateful that we are together. You are Great and Almighty, bless us with mercy. You are everywhere at the same time. O God, help us” Jean shared that this fire makes the situation in Gaza, Sudan and elsewhere more real.
There will be another vigil this time in person in Santa Monica next week.
