Temple Isaiah Iftar

Interfaith Iftar at Temple Isaiah

On the evening of March 25, 2025, Temple Isaiah in Los Angeles hosted a memorable interfaith Iftar, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to share in the spirit of unity, understanding, and dialogue. The event, attended by members of both communities, fostered a welcoming atmosphere where participants reflected on fasting, faith, and the power of  connections.

The evening began with warm welcome remarks by Rabbi Zoe, followed by reflections on the significance of fasting  fostering spiritual discipline and empathy. As the call to prayer marked the time for breaking the fast, attendees joined in a moment of collective gratitude before sharing a meal together.

During the gathering, Atilla Kahveci- Executive Director of Pacifica highlighted the rich history of Hizmet, a global movement inspired by the teachings of Fethullah Gülen. Rooted in principles of service, education, and interfaith dialogue, the Hizmet movement has long emphasized the importance of fostering understanding across cultural and religious divides. Gülen, a Turkish scholar and advocate for peace, has dedicated his life to promoting education, social responsibility, and meaningful dialogue as pathways to a more harmonious world. His vision has inspired countless individuals to engage in service-oriented initiatives, including interfaith gatherings like this Iftar.

As the evening concluded, Janet from Temple Isaiah did the closing remarks and reaffirmed the importance of such gatherings in strengthening bonds between faith communities.
