An interfaith Abrahamic iftar dinner hosted by Pacifica Institute brought together members of diverse faith communities on March 8 to mark International Women’s Day, emphasizing unity, shared values, and the important role of women across faith traditions.
The gathering, held at the Enver Community Center, was presented as an evening of unity across faiths, celebrating and honoring the women in our communities. Attendees from Muslim, Jewish, Christian, and broader interfaith backgrounds contributed to a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
The event was organized collaboratively by Pacifica Institute, Congregation Beth Shalom, and Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church, while members of the Interfaith Council of Elk Grove participated in the program, reflecting a strong spirit of cooperation and dialogue among local faith communities.
The evening began with opening remarks highlighting the significance of interfaith engagement, particularly during Ramadan and International Women’s Day. Speakers from different traditions shared reflections on the role of women in religious teachings, drawing attention to both historical figures and contemporary leaders who have shaped their communities.
Throughout the program, speakers emphasized women’s roles as educators, community leaders, and sources of compassion and moral guidance. Reflections underscored a shared responsibility within faith communities to recognize, support, and uplift women in all aspects of life.
The iftar, which followed the evening program, further strengthened connections among attendees, creating space for meaningful dialogue and relationship-building. Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to gather in a respectful and spiritually enriching environment.
Organizers noted that the event served as a reminder that, despite theological differences, communities of faith share a deep commitment to compassion and human dignity. By centering the celebration on women’s leadership, the Abrahamic iftar encouraged continued efforts toward building more inclusive and supportive communities.
