CSULB The Beach Pluralism Project Visits Salaam Islamic Center & Pacifica Institute
Pacifica Institute was honored to host a distinguished group of students from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), participating in The Beach Pluralism Project, along with esteemed academics Dr. Sophia Pandya, Dr. Kathryn Chew, and Dr. Nayawiyyah Muhammad.
The visit began at the Salaam Islamic Center, where students observed the Friday Prayer Service and had the opportunity to experience the spiritual and communal aspects of Muslim worship firsthand. The program continued at the Pacifica Institute, where guests enjoyed a shared lunch and an engaging Q&A session with our team.
Throughout the afternoon, students explored topics related to interfaith dialogue, religious literacy, community engagement, and the lived experiences of American Muslim communities. Their thoughtful questions and meaningful reflections enriched the conversation and deepened the mutual understanding central to Pacifica Institute’s mission.
We extend our appreciation to Dr. Pandya, Dr. Chew, Dr. Muhammad, and the students of the Pluralism Project for their curiosity, openness, and commitment to building bridges across diverse traditions. We look forward to future collaborations that continue fostering dialogue, learning, and connection.
