Labors of Love: Fence Reinforcement Project Brings Safety and Solidarity to Lake Forest

Pacifica Institute volunteers recently partnered with Embrace Relief and local community members for a “Labors of Love” service project in Lake Forest, California—repairing and reinforcing garden fences for an elderly widow living alone. The existing fences posed a security concern, and this effort helped restore safety, peace of mind, and a stronger sense of neighborhood care.

We were honored to be joined by Mayor Pro Tem Robert Pequeno of the City of Lake Forest. His presence and encouragement reflected the values that strengthen communities: neighborly solidarity, practical compassion, and service rooted in dignity.

“At Pacifica Institute, we believe meaningful change begins locally—when neighbors show up for one another,” said Pacifica Institute volunteers. “This project reminded us that small acts of care can make a lasting difference.”

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mayor Pro Tem Robert Pequeno for his support and to Pacifica Institute for collaborating on this impactful initiative. Together, we are building safer homes and stronger communities—one act of kindness at a time.
